AI Product Video for Shopify: From One Photo to Your Product Page (2026)
Save your product photos for free, pick a scene recipe, then animate one photo with Hailuo 2.3 for 3 credits before doing the rest of the catalogue.
Add a productThis guide covers the part the other product-video guides on this blog skip: what Shopify itself requires, which Viralance output shapes fit a Shopify gallery, and what a small catalogue actually costs. For shot planning and label checks, it links to the dedicated guides instead of repeating them.
Open the product workspace. Saving a product and its photos is free; nothing is charged until you generate.
What Shopify requires for product video
As of September 2026, Shopify's product media types page and adding product media page set these rules:
| Rule | Shopify's limit |
|---|---|
| File types | .mp4, .mov or .webm (Shopify converts and serves everything as .mp4 or HLS) |
| Length | Up to 10 minutes |
| File size | Up to 1 GB |
| Resolution | Up to 4K (4096 × 2160 px) |
| Media per product | 250 images, 3D models or videos combined; cannot be raised |
| Videos + 3D models per store | 250 on Starter, Retail and Basic; 1,000 on Grow; 5,000 on Advanced; 50,000 on Plus |
| Weekly upload cap | 1,000 videos per week per store |
| Video storage | 50 GB on Basic; 500 GB on Grow and Advanced; 2 TB on Plus |
| Variant media | Videos and 3D models can't be used as variant media |
| Embeds | YouTube and Vimeo links only; other URLs aren't supported |
Three details matter more than the limits for AI clips:
- Viewers may see 480p. Shopify streams video at 480p, 720p or 1080p depending on the viewer's connection and your upload's resolution. A label that is only readable at 1080p will be unreadable for part of your audience.
- The first media item is the featured one. Shopify shows it on collection pages, the cart, checkout and your home page. We suggest keeping a clean still photo first and placing the video second or third in the gallery.
- Your theme must support video. Shopify lists all Online Store 2.0 themes it built and the Horizon family as supported; older or third-party themes may need an update (supported themes).
Choose the shape before you generate
Shopify also recommends using a consistent aspect ratio for featured images so collection grids line up, and says square images around 2048 × 2048 px usually display best. Your product video should normally match the shape of the photos already in the gallery, so the page doesn't jump when a shopper swipes to it.
On Viralance, the output shape of a photo-to-video clip depends on the model, and the Image to Video editor does not show a format selector:
| Model (photo input) | Output shape on Viralance | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Kling 3.0 Standard / Pro | Follows your photo (no aspect setting for photo input) | Square or portrait product galleries |
| Hailuo 2.3 | Follows your photo | Square or portrait galleries on a budget |
| PixVerse V6 | Follows your photo | Quick, cheap drafts |
| VEO 3.1 Fast / Lite | Follows your photo (4, 6 or 8 seconds) | Galleries and social ads, with native audio |
| Product Hero template | Vertical 9:16 | Social ads |
The practical rule: to get a square Shopify video, start from a square photo and use Kling 3.0, Hailuo 2.3 or PixVerse V6. If your photo is the wrong shape, create a new scene in the product workspace in the right format (next section) rather than reframing the finished video — Viralance's Reframe tool on Edit Video costs 2 credits per second (minimum 6, clips up to 10 seconds), so reframing an 8-second clip costs 16 credits, more than generating a new Kling 3.0 Standard clip.
Step by step on Viralance
- Add the product. In My Products, click Add product, enter a name and a description of what must stay recognizable (materials, colors, the label), and upload up to three JPG, PNG or WebP photos (10 MB each). Saving is free.
- Optionally build a scene. Pick a setting — Studio hero, Luxury reveal, Natural light, Daily routine, Kitchen counter, Outdoor campaign, Color backdrop or Workday detail — and a format: Square, Vertical, Landscape or Portrait (4:5). Bria Product Shot costs 1 credit per image and uses your first photo; GPT Image 2.5 Flare costs 2 and uses all saved references. Skip this step if your existing white-background photo is already what you want on the page.
- Animate. Click Animate this scene on a result, or Animate product for the original photo. The editor opens in Image to Video with the recipe's motion prompt filled in and VEO 3.1 Fast selected — switch the model to Kling 3.0 Standard, Hailuo 2.3 or PixVerse V6 if you want the photo's shape. The cost is shown before you generate.
- Keep the prompt small. Each recipe carries a motion prompt, e.g. Studio hero's "Slow camera push toward the product. Gentle light moves across the label. Keep the product shape and lettering consistent." A slow push-in on a still product keeps more of the real item than an orbit, which asks the model to invent the back. The single-photo shot list shows how to plan an opening, detail and closing shot.
- Consider sound. A product-page clip rarely needs sound. VEO, Kling 3.0 and Vidu have an audio toggle in the editor, and Hailuo 2.3 clips have no audio; a silent clip avoids a generated soundtrack you did not approve.
- Review, then download. Pause at the start, middle and end and compare the label with the photo; the label readability guide has a frame-review worksheet. Download the MP4 from My Videos. Videos made on the free trial credits carry a watermark until you buy any pack; buying removes it from those videos too.
- Upload to Shopify. In Shopify admin go to Products, open the product, and in the Media section click Upload new or drag the file in. Drag it after your featured photo, then preview the product page on a phone.
For social ads rather than the product page, the Product Hero template turns one photo into a vertical launch-film clip: it first restages the photo on a dark pedestal (2 credits), then animates it with Hailuo 2.3 for 6 seconds (3 credits) — 5 credits total. Under Customize you can swap the video model to PixVerse V6, Kling 2.6 Pro, VEO 3.1 Lite or VEO 3.1 Fast, with the price recalculated. Other product templates are in the template gallery, and ad formats with a presenter are on the UGC ads page.
What five products cost
Assume a 5-product catalogue, one scene image per product (Bria, 1 credit) and two video attempts per product, because some first attempts will warp a label or the shape. Prices are Viralance's current table, checked September 26, 2026; dollar figures use the Mini ($0.30/credit) and Business ($0.181/credit) pack rates.
| Plan | Per clip | 10 clips + 5 scenes | ≈ at Mini rate | ≈ at Business rate | Smallest purchase that covers it |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hailuo 2.3, 6s, 720p tier | 3 | 35 credits | $10.50 | $6.34 | Plus $19 (70) |
| PixVerse V6, 5s, 720p | 4 | 45 | $13.50 | $8.15 | Plus $19 (70) |
| Kling 3.0 Standard, 5s, 1080p | 8 | 85 | $25.50 | $15.39 | Starter $29 (110) |
| Kling 3.0 Pro, 5s, 1080p | 10 | 105 | $31.50 | $19.01 | Starter $29 (110) |
| Product Hero, 6s vertical (social) | 5 | 50 (no separate scene) | $15.00 | $9.05 | Plus $19 (70) |
| VEO 3.1 Fast, 8s, 720p | 12 | 125 | $37.50 | $22.63 | Starter + Mini, $38 (140) |
Packs are one-time purchases with no subscription, and credits never expire. A first purchase within 24 hours of signup adds a 5–15% bonus depending on the pack, and returning customers get +10%. See pricing. Failed generations are refunded automatically; a finished clip you don't like is not.
A sensible order: run one Hailuo 2.3 or PixVerse V6 test per product, and only move a product to Kling 3.0 when the cheap draft shows the motion works but you need 1080p detail for small text.
How reliable is each model in practice?
Viralance's real-world generation data covers 615 text- and image-to-video jobs by 360 users between January 29 and October 1, 2026 (test, admin and internal accounts excluded). For the models above:
| Model | Jobs | Completed | 95% interval | Median wait | 90th percentile wait |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hailuo 2.3 | 21 | 100% | 85–100% | 237 s | 469 s |
| PixVerse V6 | 20 | 85% | 64–95% | 128 s | 153 s |
| Kling 3.0 Standard | 19 | 89% | 69–97% | 164 s | 266 s |
| Kling 3.0 Pro | 26 | 100% | 87–100% | 269 s | 527 s |
| VEO 3.1 Fast | 123 | 98% | 93–99% | 139 s | 202 s |
This is observational data: users chose their own prompts, photos and settings, and the samples for some models are small, so rely on the intervals rather than the headline rate. "Completed" means a video was delivered, not that it was good enough for a product page. Plan for a few minutes per clip, which matters when you queue a whole catalogue.
A note on 3D models (GLB)
Shopify also accepts GLB and USDZ 3D models up to 500 MB, converts them so both formats exist for Android and iOS, and optimizes files over 15 MB. Viralance's Image to 3D makes a GLB from one photo for 15 credits. A single photo cannot show the back or base of a product, so treat the result as a draft until it passes the checks in how to inspect an AI-generated GLB before uploading it.
When not to use Viralance for this
- You want videos pushed to Shopify automatically. There is no Shopify app, sync or bulk upload; every clip is downloaded and uploaded by hand, which is fine for 5 products and tedious for 500.
- The product's function is the point. A photo can't show a zipper working, a fit on a real body or an internal mechanism. Film that.
- Exact packaging text must be perfect in every frame. Generated video can drift letters; use real footage for regulated or legally required labelling.
- You need longer demos. Photo clips run up to 15 seconds on most models here (30 on Seedance 2.5). For a two-minute walkthrough, record one or embed an existing YouTube video.
For formats beyond the product page — lifestyle scenes, UGC-style ads — see the AI video generator for e-commerce guide.
Frequently asked questions
Does Viralance integrate with Shopify? No. You download the MP4 and upload it in Shopify admin under Products → Media. Viralance doesn't publish to Shopify or any other store.
Will a Viralance clip meet Shopify's file rules? Yes for format and size: clips are short MP4 files well under Shopify's 1 GB and 10-minute limits, and the models in this guide output at most 1080p, below Shopify's 4K cap.
Can I attach a video to a specific variant, like the blue version? Not in Shopify: videos and 3D models can't be variant media. Make a separate clip and describe the color in the product media order or description.
Which model should I try first? Hailuo 2.3 at 3 credits for a cheap test that keeps your photo's shape; Kling 3.0 Standard at 8 credits when you need 1080p for small text.
Make your first Shopify clip. Add a product, animate one photo with Hailuo 2.3 for 3 credits, and check it on your product page before doing the rest of the catalogue.
