How to Inspect an AI-Generated GLB Before Uploading It
Prepare your image and check the credit cost before generating.
Create a 3D assetA single-photo model can look convincing from the original camera angle and still have an invented back or an incorrect base. Before placing it on a product page, decide whether it is an accurate representation, a useful concept asset, or a draft that needs a 3D artist.
Open Image to 3D. Viralance's current generation cost is 15 credits per model (about $2.72 at the Business pack rate, $4.50 at the Mini rate), checked September 26, 2026. Failed generations are refunded automatically; a model you simply don't like is not. If you already have a result, inspect and download that file before paying to generate another.
Understand the two different checks
A GLB is a binary glTF asset that can package a mesh and its associated materials and textures. File validation checks whether the asset follows the format's rules. Visual review checks whether it depicts what you intended.
The Khronos glTF Validator reports errors and warnings about glTF assets. It is useful for diagnosing structural problems. It cannot tell you whether a bottle cap has the correct shape, a chair has the right dimensions, or the back of a product was inferred accurately.
Use both checks. Do not describe an asset as product-accurate simply because a viewer opens it.
Make a six-view review sheet
Our suggested review sheet uses front, back, left, right, top and bottom views. Pause at each view and compare it with real product references when you have them.
| View | Review question | Example rejection reason |
|---|---|---|
| Front | Does the silhouette match? | Handle or opening is in the wrong place |
| Back | Is the unseen surface believable and correct? | An invented seam or extra logo |
| Left and right | Are proportions consistent? | One side is much deeper than the other |
| Top | Are openings and contours present? | Solid surface where a hole should be |
| Bottom | Does the object have a usable base? | Floating fragments or a fused pedestal |
These checks are an editorial workflow, not a claim that every generated model has these defects. A single photograph cannot establish all the hidden geometry. If the back matters commercially, obtain another reference for review even when the generator accepts only one image.
Inspect materials under more than one view
Rotate the model slowly and watch the boundary between colors and surfaces. Look for lettering that stretches, highlights painted into the texture, disconnected patches and transparent parts rendered as solid material.
For a product asset, compare color and finish with the actual product. A visually attractive gold surface is unsuitable if the item being sold is matte plastic. If you cannot verify a hidden detail, record that uncertainty instead of assuming the generator reconstructed it correctly.
Keep a copy of the original export before editing or compressing. That gives you a reference if a later change introduces a material problem.
Check scale in the destination
A mesh can have plausible proportions and the wrong real-world size. Compare a known product dimension with the imported model in your intended editor or viewer. If the destination supports an AR view, check the scale there too.
Viralance's single-photo generation is not a measurement service. Use actual product dimensions when setting scale. For workflows that need precise manufacturing geometry, a generated visual mesh should not replace a measured CAD model.
What changes when the destination is Shopify?
As of September 2026, Shopify's product-media requirements accept GLB and USDZ files up to 500 MB. Files over 15 MB are automatically optimized, and Shopify converts uploads so both a GLB and a USDZ version are available for Android and iOS devices. These are upload rules, not a recommendation to publish a very large file.
After uploading, inspect the result in the actual theme on desktop and mobile. Confirm loading, rotation, materials and the available AR behavior. Viralance exports a downloadable GLB; this guide does not imply an automatic Shopify connection or direct USDZ export from Viralance.
Decide whether to use, repair or regenerate
Use a result when it fits the intended purpose and survives the review. Repair it when the main shape is useful but a manageable texture, scale or geometry issue remains. Regenerate when the source photo is clearly unsuitable or the result misses the main object.
Write a short change request: “Keep the front shape; repair the base and texture seam” is more useful than “make it better.” If you regenerate, improve one source-image issue first. Review the new file with the same sheet so your standard does not change from attempt to attempt.
Frequently asked questions
Is a GLB ready for every game engine? No. Import support, materials and asset budgets vary. Test in the actual engine and installed importer before treating the asset as production-ready.
Does GLB validation check visual accuracy? No. Treat format validity and product accuracy as separate acceptance decisions.
Where do I start if I have not generated a model yet? Read the image-to-3D guide, choose one clear object photograph, and plan the review before generating. Compare credit packs if the 15-credit request exceeds your balance.
