Seedance 2.0 price: what a clip really costs, and is it free? (2026)
Opens the editor with Seedance 2.0 preset to 5 seconds at 720p (12 credits). A failed or refused run is refunded automatically.
Try Seedance 2.0 at 5s 720p for 12 creditsThe Seedance 2.0 price depends on three things: clip length, resolution, and where you run it. ByteDance's model is sold through its own Dreamina app, through API hosts such as fal.ai, and through multi-model apps like ours, each with a different Seedance 2.0 pricing model. This guide gives the exact credit cost on Viralance, the API price per second, what a finished clip cost our users in practice, and when a cheaper model will do the same job.

How much does Seedance 2.0 cost per video?
Short answer: on Viralance a Seedance 2.0 clip at 720p costs 2.4 credits per second: 12 credits for 5 seconds, 24 for 10 seconds and 36 for 15. At 1080p it is 28, 55 or 82 credits. 480p is 10, 20 or 30 credits. The exact price appears in the editor before you generate.
Here is the full grid, in credits and in dollars on three packs:
| Resolution | Length | Credits | Mini ($9) | Creator ($79) | Pro ($149) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 480p | 5 / 10 / 15 s | 10 / 20 / 30 | $3.00 / $6.00 / $9.00 | $2.39 / $4.79 / $7.18 | $1.94 / $3.87 / $5.81 |
| 720p | 5 / 10 / 15 s | 12 / 24 / 36 | $3.60 / $7.20 / $10.80 | $2.87 / $5.75 / $8.62 | $2.32 / $4.64 / $6.97 |
| 1080p | 5 / 10 / 15 s | 28 / 55 / 82 | $8.40 / $16.50 / $24.60 | $6.70 / $13.17 / $19.63 | $5.42 / $10.64 / $15.87 |
Price scales almost linearly with length, so a 15-second clip costs three 5-second clips. Native audio, including lip sync, is included in every price. Image-to-video costs the same as text-to-video.
What does the Seedance 2.0 API cost per second?
Short answer: fal.ai lists Seedance 2.0 at $0.2419 per second for 720p on its Fast tier and $0.3034 per second for 720p on its Standard tier, both with audio. 1080p is $0.682 per second on Standard. A 5-second 720p clip therefore costs $1.21 (Fast) or $1.52 (Standard) before any app margin.
fal.ai describes the difference this way: Standard endpoints "prioritize maximum quality" and Fast endpoints "offer lower latency and cost". On Viralance, 480p and 720p run on the Fast endpoint and 1080p on the Standard endpoint, which is why 1080p costs more than twice as much.
Why do apps cost more than the API? An API price is the raw generation. An app also pays for the runs it refunds, file storage and delivery, moderation, payment fees and support. If you have a developer, an API key and somewhere to store the files, the API is the cheaper route per clip. If you want a browser editor, one balance for many models and automatic refunds, an app's margin buys that. Our real cost per finished AI video post compares the two for other models too.
Is Seedance 2.0 free?
Short answer: not on Viralance. New accounts get 4 free credits after email verification, with no card, but the cheapest Seedance 2.0 clip (480p, 5 seconds) costs 10 credits. ByteDance's own Dreamina app says it offers "daily free credits that can cover short drafts". Free tiers usually add a watermark and limit length or resolution.
Some details worth knowing before you search for a Seedance 2.0 free trial:
- Dreamina. ByteDance's creative app, under the CapCut brand, runs Seedance 2.0 natively. Its Seedance 2.0 Mini pricing page (dated 12 June 2026) says the app "does offer daily free credits that can cover short drafts" but doesn't publish exact per-clip credit costs there. Check the app itself for current amounts.
- Viralance. The 4 starter credits can't buy a Seedance 2.0 clip, but they cover a cheaper model, such as a 6-second Hailuo 2.3 clip from a photo (3 credits) or a 4-second Veo 3.1 Lite clip at 720p (3 credits). Videos made before your first purchase carry a small watermark; any one-time pack removes it. See which AI video generators give free credits without a card.
- Sites promising "unlimited free Seedance". Every Seedance 2.0 generation costs someone at least the API price above. A site that gives it away without limits is either subsidising it briefly or not running the model it names.
The smallest paid option on Viralance is the $9 Mini pack: 30 credits, which is two 5-second 720p Seedance 2.0 clips with credits left over. Credits never expire.
Real-world cost per finished clip
List prices assume every run succeeds. Here is what Seedance 2.0 actually cost our users per finished clip. The sample is small, so treat it as indicative: 28 runs by 6 creators, one of whom made 57% of them, between 29 January and 1 October 2026.
| Measure | Seedance 2.0 users (n=28 runs, 25 jobs) |
|---|---|
| Finished | 22 of 28 runs; the other 6 were content-policy refusals |
| First-try success | 20 of 25 jobs (80%) |
| Jobs that ended with a clip | 23 of 25 |
| Credits charged per finished clip, before refunds | 33.77 |
| Credits per finished clip, after automatic refunds | 24.18 |
| Credits per kept clip, with retries and re-rolls | 25.70 |
| In dollars per kept clip | $7.71 Mini, $6.15 Creator, $4.97 Pro |
| Median wait (p90) | 4.5 min (9.6 min) |
Two things push the real cost above the 12-credit list price. Users often picked longer clips (14 runs at 5 seconds, 7 at 10 and 7 at 15) and some chose 1080p (5 of 28). And refusals happen: without the automatic refund, a finished clip would have cost about 40% more.
For a bigger but mixed picture, we can include our own team's 35 in-house runs. With them, there were 63 Seedance 2.0 generations: 50 finished (79%) and 13 were policy refusals (21%). Median wait was 248 seconds and p90 399 seconds. Most were 5 seconds (41) and 720p (41), with 18 at 1080p and 4 at 480p.
Seedance 2.0 is popular with people who pay: among our 12 paying users, it was the second most used model (20 of their 95 generations).
Why is Seedance 2.0 so expensive compared to Veo?
Short answer: because it costs more at the source. On fal.ai, Seedance 2.0 at 720p is $0.24 to $0.30 per second, while Veo 3.1 Lite at 720p is $0.05 per second. On Viralance that becomes 12 credits for 5 seconds of Seedance 2.0 against 5 credits for 8 seconds of Veo 3.1 Lite. You pay for its extra controls, not for higher resolution.
What the extra money buys:
- Lip sync and native audio in the same generation.
- Up to 9 reference images for characters, products or style.
- Longer clips: up to 15 seconds in one take, against 8 seconds on Veo 3.1.
If you don't need those, a cheaper model often makes an equally usable clip. Our Seedance 2.0 vs Veo 3.1 comparison goes through the trade-offs, and Seedance 2.5 vs 2.0 covers the newer version, which reaches 30 seconds at a higher price (24 credits for 5 seconds at 720p).
Is 1080p worth it on Seedance 2.0?
Short answer: usually not for social video. A 5-second Seedance 2.0 clip costs 28 credits at 1080p against 12 at 720p, about 2.3 times more, and it runs on the slower Standard tier. TikTok, Reels and Shorts are watched on phones. Choose 1080p for product close-ups, readable labels or footage that will be cropped.
Our users mostly agreed: 23 of their 28 Seedance 2.0 runs were 720p. A delivered 720p Seedance 2.0 file had a median size of 2.98 MB (4.19 Mbps, 12 clips), which uploads easily anywhere. If you need a sharper master later, test the prompt at 720p first and only rerun the final version at 1080p.
Why does Seedance 2.0 reject my reference images?
Short answer: most refusals are about what is in the image, usually a real, recognisable person. In our data (including in-house runs), Seedance 2.0 reference-to-video was refused 6 of 8 times, a tiny sample. A refused run is refunded automatically on Viralance. Use a fictional character, a product shot or a photo you have the rights to.
The provider's content policy decides this, not the app. Faces of real people, minors, public figures and suggestive content are the usual triggers. Rewording a prompt won't fix an image the model refuses. Our guide to why AI video prompts get rejected explains the categories and what to change.
When a cheaper model will do
| Need | Cheaper option on Viralance | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Animate a product photo | Hailuo 2.3, 6 s from a photo | 3 credits |
| Short clip with sound, 720p | Veo 3.1 Lite, 8 s | 5 credits |
| Same clip at 1080p | Veo 3.1 Lite, 8 s | 8 credits |
| 1080p up to 15 s | Kling 3.0 Standard, 5 / 10 / 15 s | 8 / 14 / 22 credits |
| Talking character, lip sync, many references | Seedance 2.0, 720p, 5 s | 12 credits |
All of these draw from one credit balance, and you can switch models per clip. Current prices for every model are on the models page and pack prices on pricing.
How we measured this
- Source: Viralance generation records, read-only and aggregated, 29 January to 1 October 2026.
- User figures: 28 Seedance 2.0 runs by 6 creators, grouped into 25 jobs (same person, similar prompt, within 60 minutes). Marked indicative because one creator made 57% of the runs.
- In-house figures: the 63-run totals add 35 runs by our own team and are labelled as such.
- Excluded: test, QA and admin accounts, our internal accounts (including the owner's API and MCP test runs) in user figures, banned accounts, and failures caused by bugs in our own integration.
- Failure: a run that ended without a video. All 6 user failures were content-policy refusals; failed runs are refunded automatically.
- Prices: Viralance catalog and fal.ai, both checked 1 October 2026.
Per-model success rates and waits for all models are in our real-world generation data.
