How do I turn a video into a cartoon with AI?

Updated November 2, 2026

Use a video-to-video restyle tool, not a filter app or an image generator: you upload the clip, describe the cartoon look, and it redraws every frame while the movement, camera path and timing stay the same. On Viralance that is Restyle in the video editor (the Lucy Restyle model), at 10 credits per started minute of source video, so a 20-second clip is 10 credits and a 3-minute clip is 30. The cost is shown before anything runs, the original soundtrack is put back on the finished video, and a job that fails is refunded automatically.

The concrete numbers

  • Price: 10 credits per started minute of source video, minimum 10. A clip under one minute is 10 credits, about $3.00 on the $9 Mini pack. Credits come from one-time packs, with no subscription.
  • Output is up to 720p. Sources above 720p are converted to 720p first, which works up to about 5 minutes at 1080p and less for 4K; for longer clips, export at 720p before uploading.
  • Uploads up to 500 MB, MP4 or MOV. The original soundtrack is kept: Restyle redraws only the picture and the audio is put back on the finished video.
  • The style prompt takes up to 900 characters, but a short, concrete one works best: the cartoon style, how the main character should look, and the mood.
  • A style strength slider sets how far the redraw goes. Lower keeps more of the original footage; higher follows the cartoon prompt more closely.
  • For long footage, restyle it in parts of a few minutes each. You check the look on the first part before paying for the rest, and each part is billed per started minute.

Try this workflow

  1. 1

Open Restyle and upload the clip

In the video editor, choose Restyle and drop in an MP4 or MOV up to 500 MB. The credit cost appears from the measured length before anything runs.

  2. 2

    Describe the cartoon look

One or two lines: the style, the main character’s look and the mood, such as “flat 2D cartoon, bold outlines, bright colours, cheerful”.

  3. 3

Set the style strength and run

Lower keeps more of the original; higher redraws more. The finished cartoon comes back at up to 720p with your original soundtrack.

Common follow-ups

What prompt should I use for a cartoon look?

Name the style, the main character’s look and the mood in one or two lines, for example “flat 2D cartoon, bold black outlines, bright saturated colours, simple shapes, cheerful mood”. Other looks that work: comic-book ink and halftone, clay animation, or a 3D animated family-film look.

Does the cartoon version keep my voice and music?

Yes. Restyle redraws only the picture, and Viralance puts the original soundtrack back on the finished video at the same length.

How long can the video be?

Uploads can be up to 500 MB. For anything longer than a few minutes, restyle it in parts: it keeps each job short, lets you check the look early, and a 1080p source converts to 720p reliably up to about 5 minutes.

Can I turn a video of myself into a cartoon?

Yes, for footage of yourself or people you have the right to use. Prompts that name a public figure are refused.

What if the result does not look right?

Adjust one thing at a time: lower the style strength if the person or scene drifts too far from the original, raise it if the cartoon look is too faint, and make the prompt shorter and more concrete. A job that fails outright is refunded automatically.
