AI Instagram Reels Generator: Make Reels Without Filming (2026)
Choose your settings and review the credit cost before generating.
Create your first videoAI can make the footage for a Reel. It can't make the Reel worth sending to a friend. That part is still your idea, your hook and your edit. This guide covers what Instagram says it ranks, which settings give you a clean vertical Reel, what that costs, and how to reuse one clip across Reels, TikTok and Shorts.
What Instagram says it looks at
Instagram says that for Reels it predicts how likely you are to "reshare a reel, watch a reel all the way through, like it, and go to the audio page," and that the most important signals are your recent activity, your history with the creator, information about the reel (its audio, visuals and popularity) and information about the creator (Instagram, Instagram Ranking Explained).
In practice, for AI-generated Reels:
- Make it worth resharing. A clip people send to a friend (a useful tip, a surprising transformation, a joke) carries further than a pretty but generic scene.
- Make it easy to finish. A 5–10 second clip watched to the end beats a 30-second one abandoned halfway.
- Audio counts. Reels ranks on audio information too. Either generate native audio or add a sound in Instagram.
Reels can now be up to three minutes long (Social Media Today, January 2025), but a single AI clip is 4–15 seconds on most models. Longer Reels mean stitching several shots.
Settings for a clean vertical Reel
| Setting | Choose | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Aspect ratio | 9:16 | Full-screen Reel with no bars. For image-to-video, crop the photo to 9:16 first, because the output follows its shape |
| Resolution | 1080p for the final version | Draft at 720p, re-run the winner at 1080p |
| Duration | 5–10s per shot | Short enough to finish, long enough for one action |
| Audio | On for talking or ambient clips; off if you'll add an Instagram sound | Avoids two soundtracks fighting |
Which model for which kind of Reel
All figures are from the live Viralance catalog (October 2026). Credits cost $0.30 each on the $9 Mini pack and about $0.18 on the $299 Business pack.

A Reel workflow you can repeat
- Pick one reason to share: a before/after, a how-to in one shot, a satisfying process, a product detail up close.
- Draft it cheaply. Two VEO 3.1 Lite 4-second drafts at 720p (6 credits) tell you whether the idea reads on screen.
- Make the final version at 1080p with the model that fits the style (table above).
- Add text in Instagram, not in the prompt. Video models often misspell on-screen words.
- Add captions if anyone speaks. Auto Subtitles burns word-by-word captions in for 3 credits.
- Write the post caption. The caption generator on the create page writes about 150 characters plus 6–9 hashtags, free. Edit it to sound like you.
- Post from Instagram and turn on the AI label if the clip looks photorealistic.
For product Reels in UGC style (testimonial, unboxing, demo, GRWM and more), the UGC studio builds the prompt from a format and can generate up to 3 variations in one run; the UGC ads page explains the formats.
Reels from one photo, without writing a prompt
The template gallery turns one photo into a vertical trend clip with a tuned prompt and default settings. For creators, Main Character, Red Carpet and Aura Glow are Reel-friendly; for shops, Product Hero, Unboxing Reveal and 360 Hero Spin animate a product photo. Each template page lists the model, duration and credit cost, and you can change the model before generating.
Instagram vs TikTok for the same clip
The same 9:16 file works on Reels, TikTok and YouTube Shorts, so generate once and post natively on each. What changes:
- Sounds: add each platform's sound in its own app rather than baking one in.
- Text and captions: rewrite the post caption per platform; the hashtags that work on TikTok aren't always right for Instagram.
- Landscape versions: if you also need 16:9 for YouTube or 1:1 for a feed post, Reframe rebuilds the edges instead of cropping (clips up to 10 seconds, from 6 credits).
Meta's AI labelling rules
Meta labels content "AI info" when it detects industry-standard AI signals or when you disclose it, and it requires people to use its disclosure tool when they post organic content with photorealistic video or realistic-sounding audio that was digitally created or altered; it may apply penalties if they don't (Meta, Our Approach to Labeling AI-Generated Content). Use the AI label toggle when you post a realistic AI Reel.
Don't generate identifiable real people, and don't present an AI-made "customer" as a genuine review.
When AI isn't the right fit for Reels
- Personal brand content. Your followers come for you; use AI clips as b-roll around your own footage, not instead of it.
- Anything that depends on real proof: real results, real customers, real events.
- Long Reels. A 60-second story means 6–12 separate shots. The Film tool stitches 4–12 shots from one idea, or you can edit clips together yourself.
Frequently asked questions
Can I post the same video to TikTok and Shorts? Yes. A 9:16 clip is native on Reels, TikTok and YouTube Shorts. Each platform has its own AI-labelling rule, so label it in each app.
Does Viralance post to Instagram for me? No. Download the MP4 and post it from Instagram, where you add sounds, text and the AI label.
How much does a Reel cost to make? From 3 credits for a 4-second VEO 3.1 Lite draft to 12 credits for an 8-second 1080p VEO 3.1 Fast clip. New verified accounts get 4 free credits; packs start at $9 for 30 credits, with no subscription.
Do I own the videos? Viralance's terms state you keep ownership of what you generate. You're responsible for the rights to anything you upload and for Instagram's rules.
